Energy Analysis using SketchUp and EnergyPlus

DESCRIPTION
Attendees will learn to quickly and efficiently generate flexible models for energy analysis. Effective modeling workflows will be shared to construct building form and enclosure and assign space attributes. Attendees will also learn to configure HVAC systems. 


INSTRUCTOR
Jason Kirkpatrick, LEED AP BD+C leads the Analysis Group within SOM Sustainable Engineering. As a Senior Building Performance Analyst he integrates technical tools with sustainable engineering strategies to inform building design towards achieving high performance design goals. Jason serves as an Industry Consultant with the Simulation Research Group at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) and directly informs the future development of EnergyPlus, the Department of Energy’s flagship Whole Building Energy Simulation engine. As a Senior Building Performance Analyst in SOM’s San Francisco office, Jason is responsible for training, quality assurance and quality control of LEED compliant energy models developed by analysts in all SOM offices, to enable architectural and mechanical design teams to make informed decisions regarding a design’s impact on the building’s energy consumption.
