This problem is sadly typical for BIM transfer. Revit has a fairly good export to gbXML but still requires quite a bit of preperation on the Revit side. DesignBuilder (which will then export a runnable idf) has a fairly clean import of gbxml regarding Revit produced gbxml. There are many other softwares that can also do this, but I can't vouch for them as I have not tried them. Another exchange format you may try is IFC. I believe Revit also exports IFC. You'll need to find a software (like Bently's AECOSIM) that can import IFC and export idf. If you try go direct from Revit to idf, you'll need to adjust the Revit model somewhat. Their used to be a good DesignBuilder guidance on how to prep the Revit model for gbxml export, which may help also in this case. Mit freundlichen Grüen- Sent from my iPhone (excuse the brevity) i.
