Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Help needed in converting Revit to Energyplus

This problem is sadly typical for BIM transfer. Revit has a fairly good export to gbXML but still requires quite a bit of preperation on the Revit side. DesignBuilder (which will then export a runnable idf) has a fairly clean import of gbxml regarding Revit produced gbxml. There are many other softwares that can also do this, but I can't vouch for them as I have not tried them.

Another exchange format you may try is IFC. I believe Revit also exports IFC. You'll need to find a software (like Bently's AECOSIM) that can import IFC and export idf.

If you try go direct from Revit to idf, you'll need to adjust the Revit model somewhat. Their used to be a good DesignBuilder guidance on how to prep the Revit model for gbxml export, which may help also in this case.

Hi All,

I'm converting a Revit model to Energyplus, but the process terminates because of several errors regarding surface such as convexity, recorded number of surfaces not equal to total number of surfaces, interzone surface azimuths not match and number of sides. I went through IDF editor for the file but didn't find the solution.

I used Ecotect Analysis for the transfer. Are the problems related to the tool and where can I correct the errors?

Thank you very much in advance!

Best regards,

Zheng
