Hi all. To study daylighting in an atrium, I compared the performance of following standard glazing defined in EnergyPlus separately in an atrium:
(1) Clear 6mm (Tv=0.881, Rv=0.08)
(2) Theoretical Glass [170] (Tv=0.2512, Rv=0.6988)
(3) Theoretical Glass [168] (Tv=0.4573, Rv=0.4927)
where
Tv = Visible transmittance, and
Rv = Visible reflectance
Optical data type = SpectralAverage
Solar diffusing = No
Please kindly refer to an attached PNG file for the remaining parameters.
According to the input-output reference manual, beam sunlight should be reflected as beam with no diffuse component. However, using the theoretical Glass [170], the illuminance result did not show beam reflection. Say, strong beam falling on east facade in the atrium is not reflected to the west facade.
Would you please help me to check if I have input wrong parameter? I am worried if EnergyPlus could not be used to simulate daylighting in an atrium.
Thanks a lot.
Stanley
