RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Problem in using EMS actuator to control Controller:OutdoorAir

The DesignBuilder help has some ideas on how to customise the basic E+ economiser and HR functions. You may find it useful:

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] Problem in using EMS actuator to control Controller:OutdoorAir [2 Attachments]

Dear all,

I'm trying to model a simple CAV with a heatexchanger:airtoair and without heating coils to bring fresh air to a zone. I would also to implement freecoling for the system using the object Controller:OutdoorAir.

In this object I have to set the economizer minimum and maximum limit dbt.

The heating SPtemperature is 20 and the cooling SPtemperature is 23 extended for the whole year.  At the moment I set:

Controller:OutdoorAir,
    Circuito ad Aria UTA  Controllore Aria Esterna,  !- Name
    Circuito ad Aria UTA Relief Air Outlet,  !- Relief Air Outlet Node Name
    Circuito ad Aria UTA Ventilatore di Estrazione Air Outlet Node,  !- Return Air Node Name
    Circuito ad Aria UTA Mixed Air Outlet,  !- Mixed Air Node Name
    Circuito ad Aria UTA Outdoor Air Inlet,  !- Actuator Node Name
    autosize,                !- Minimum Outdoor Air Flow Rate {m3/s}
    autosize,      &nbs p;          !- Maximum Outdoor Air Flow Rate {m3/s}
    FixedDryBulb,            !- Economizer Control Type
    MinimumFlowWithBypass,   !- Economizer Control Action Type
    23,                      !- Economizer Maximum Limit Dry-Bulb Temperature {C}
    ,                        !- Economizer Maximum Limit Enthalpy {J/kg}
    ,                        !- Economizer Maximum Limit Dewpoint Temperature {C}
    ,      & nbsp;&nb sp;                !- Electronic Enthalpy Limit Curve Name
    16,                      !- Economizer Minimum Limit Dry-Bulb Temperature {C}
    LockoutWithCompressor,   !- Lockout Type
    FixedMinimum,            !- Minimum Limit Type
    2,                       !- Minimum Outdoor Air Schedule Name
    ,                        !- Minimum Fraction of Outdoor Air Schedule Name
    ,    & nbsp;&nb sp;                  !- Maximum Fraction of Outdoor Air Schedule Name
    ,                        !- Mechanical Ventilation Controller Name
    ,        !- Time of Day Economizer Control Schedule Name
    No,                      !- High Humidity Control
    ,                        !- Humidistat Control Zone Name
    1,                    & nbsp;&nb sp; !- High Humidity Outdoor Air Flow Ratio
    Yes,                     !- Control High Indoor Humidity Based on Outdoor Humidity Ratio
    BypassWhenWithinEconomizerLimits;  !- Heat Recovery Bypass Control Type

But in this case I obtain that in winter the heatexchanger is bypassed when external temperature are in the raneg 16-20C and it's not correct.

I was wondering about how to assign different !- Economizer Minimum Limit Dry-Bulb Temperature {C} according to the season, using in this case 20C instead of 16C... and I tryed to set up a EMS actuator for the variable !- Economizer Minimum Limit Dry-Bulb Temperature {C} but things are not working. I have problems to set the actuator for that variable.

Could anyone help me or point me a different solution to reach my intent?

Thanks a lot
