Geert,How about making a DesignBuilder component block (Shading:Site:Detailed) with non-zero transmittance that corresponds to the grate's open area?

I could draw the grate in Designbuilder, but the dimensions are to small and the total surface is to large.
Is there a way to model such a solar protection in an alternative way?
