Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Ice rink in E+

Isn't there a way to feedback the manually calculated view factors into E+?

I've only worked on an ice rink once and I remember doing this view favor calculation but I calculated all the savings using a spreadsheet after that.

There's a lot of good literature in Canada, and Quebec especially. I remember an excellent report on energy savings in ice arenas but I think it's only in French. I have a copy somewhere I think.

Jeremiah,

Did you post something on this a few weeks back? If so, I may be repetitive...
There are a bunch of radiant heat transfers in an ice rink between the ice surface and ceiling especially. If you figure out how to model it in E+, you'll probably be the first ever. At least the first in about 30-40 years.

As a tangent, I think the refrigeration objects in E+ need some review. I made an E+ model of a refrigerated warehouse (-20C) a few months back and saw that most of the detailed results looked OK, but not all.  I asked the Help Desk to look into it, but haven't heard back on that ticket.

If you need more info on that topic, give me a shout privately.

All,

Has anyone ever modeled an ice arena in E+ using some work around? I think that a version of Equest and IDA ICE have ice rink models, and don't think that E+ has an ice rink model but perhaps It could be done with other side coefficients. They try to maintain 50C at player level on the ice, 65F in the spectator areas and have a pretty high cooling demand.

Cheers,

Guitar strings are in constant tension against the guitar's neck during their entire life. The tension doesn’t discourage the guitar’s neck. Rather, it allows beautiful music to be made. May it be so with our lives and their tensions.
