It was not clear if you use SketchUp Pro or Make?
Maybe the right thing to do would be the combination of SketchUp Make 2016 with the 1.0.14 version of the plugin Legacy OpenStudio. The link for de Legacy is: https://github.com/NREL/legacy-openstudio/releases
The 8.5 version of EnergyPlus has not the Legacy plugin yet ...
