It did work to allow the Ice detailed object to converge with a PCM replacement for water ice. By working I mean that it did not have the warning and from memory the results where a bit better.  

How I did it was perhaps more complicated than most users would care to do- I modified the FORTRAN code in Energy Plus 8.1.009 and compiled the changes into a custom version.  I suppose this could be done in Energy Plus 8.5 C++ as well.  
My opinion is that the object should have an IDD field for max iterations rather than the Max iteration number declaration of 100. It seems to me that the developer of this module must have tested it with water ice that melts at 0C rather than a PCM that melts at another temperature.

Did changing the iteration from 100 to 1000 solved the problem for you? If so, how did you change it? I am getting similar warnings in my Ice tank simulation
