[EnergyPlus_Support] Updated Energy Plus Models- HVAC Energy Differences
Hi,
I have recently updated several office building models from version 7.2 to 8.6. When comparing the energy consumption between model versions, buildings with HVAC systems modelled as either VAV or Split System had heating and/or cooling differences between 3-7%.
After comparing the expanded idf files for both the 7.2 and 8.6 versions for each model, the only difference i could find is that the buildings with VAV systems had an added return fan modelled in version 8.6.
How can I further identify what may be causing the differences in energy consumption between the old and updated models?
Are the differences due to algorthim changes that occurred between 7.2 and 8.6? and if so where can i find information on this?
