Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Sizing Runs

If an object of the Site:Location class is not included in your IDF, information retrieved from each EPW file (first line) will be used. Concerning the design days, instead of defining objects of the SizingPeriod:DesignDays class, where numerous fields must be filled, objects of the SizingPeriod:WeatherFileConditionType could be used with no doubt on their accuracy. For your parametric study, tools like jeplus could be used, simplifing your experiments' setup.

I use a script (batch file) to create my location-specific IDFs.  I have a base file with everything that stays the same and a location-specific file with design conditions and other info that changes. My batch looks like  Copy Base.idf+Location1.idf Location_Sim.idf

Hi everyone,

Is there a way to set up the .idf to use the weather file given to EP without having the objects Site:Location and SizingPeriod:DesignDay?

I have this question because I want to know if I can set up EP parametric simulations in which I use the same .idf file for different locations and then I only change the weather file provided in each run.

I see some other objects like "Sizing period:weatherFileconditionType" & "Sizing period: WeatherFileDays". Do you think if they are accurate to predict the energy usage? If yes, do I need to create 2 parameters: 1. Extreme Summer Weather Period for Design & 2. Extreme Winter Weather Period for Design.

Thanks,
Harshul Singhal
