[EnergyPlus_Support] Output:VariableDictionary

Hello guys, could you kindly explain me what is the difference between the key field "REGULAR" and "IDF" in Output:VariableDictionary? I could not find a good explanation in EnergyPlus Manual InputOutput Reference.
