Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Future of EnergyPlus_Support Mailing List

Unmethours is a great choice.

Thanks, Jim.

EnergyPro is going through the same knothole.

Jason,
I like the idea of everyone gathering around the same coffee pot (so to speak), ie, Unmet Hours. A common gathering place for everyone who works in the modeling space seems very "efficient".

I haven't used Unmet Hours to it's full extent, but am not sure if images or files can be attached to a post. Those are occasionally very helpful to explain issues of greater complexity or nuance.

Thanks for asking! Thanks for moderating these many years!

Coffee Conversation:

We live in an ideological time that proudly assures us that no answers can be given, but there is only power and exploitation and contingency. No proposition is more questionable or less questioned than this.
But it is not true that there are no answers. What is true is that there are many answers we are not prepared to recognize because we have not formulated the proper questions. What is true, and consequently ominous, is that we can choose not to question because we do not want to hear the answer. We do not want to change our lives. And as Plato said, a lie in the soul is the worst of evils.

EnergyPlus_Support Mailing List Members:

You probably have seen a number of emails from Yahoo about the changes they are making to the Yahoo Groups mailing lists (see the forwarded message below if you haven't). So at this point we would like your feedback on what direction to go with the EnergyPlus_Support mailing list. It seems like we have a number of options:

  • leave as is (limping along as "restricted" list with no online content and difficult for new subscribers)
  • move to onebuilding.org (like BLDG-SIM and eQUEST-users with attachments but no online content)
  • move to groups.io (similar to Yahoo but costly)
  • another mailing list service or forum
  • end the group (just use unmethours)

Please let us know what your recommendation are and if you have other suggestions.

Thanks

Jason
