[Equest-users] How to Change the building orientation in detailed mode

Jeremy is describing how to simply alter the model's rotation in detailed mode (and he's absolutely right). There's a better way however when you need to calculate multiple orientations as you're describing.

To save time, click Tools à Parametric Runs... and create (3) new runs for each rotation (90, 180, 270). Create a component in each new run that alters the building Azimuth variable. Reference the screengrab below.

After this, each time you hit calculate, you'll have the option to do all 4 orientations in one go, and you'll have 4 sets of results to peruse in addition. Major timesaver!

Also, the onebuilding.org mailing list archives are a godsend - check em' out too if you need a fast answer in the future ;).

In the Building Shell module, double click on "Building Data" in the component tree, then change the azimuth.

Subject: [Equest-users] How to Change the building orientation in detailed mode

Hi All,

I am trying to model a baseline design. I need to simulate the building with its actual orientation and again after rotating the entire building 90, 180, 270 degrees, then averaging the results. I was wondering if I can change the building orientation in detailed mode so that I do not need to go back to Wizard mode. Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks,

Ming Li, LEED AP
