[Equest-users] Custom Zoning Problems

Hey Alfred,
I may be missing the direction on your query - but any zone boundary
defined in the wizards that is NOT along the shell perimeter will use
the interior partition construction you define later in the wizard
screens. Put another way: Only walls along the shell footprint
boundary will use the defined exterior construction.
This default behavior seems like what you're asking for in this regard.

Thanks for the responses guys,
I've attached some pictures that I hope go through.
You guys were right in that the zones on the perimeter of the building
need to extend all the way to the end of the building footprint.
However, I wondering if it would be possible to (in the custom zoning
window) map out the whole building footprint as a zone first, then go
and map out each individual room zone using the interior wall instead of
the exterior wall.

Alfred,
My guess is if your nodes points for the shell and zone does not match
exactly then this problem may arise.
Example: In shell if you have grid points from (0,0), (0,10), (0,20) but
in the zone if you have (0,0), (0,15), (0,20) i.e you skipped the (0,10)
in the shell grid point this problem may arise.
Regards,
Yuvaraj

Hi Alfred,
It's hard to know exactly what's going on without some pictures, but
from your description I'd suggest making certain the boundaries of your
custom zones along the perimeter are matching the boundary of your shell
footprint precisely. If they're slightly inside the line, what should
be exterior walls will be generated as interior partitions.

Subject: [Equest-users] Custom Zoning Problems
So I am beginning to teach myself the ins and outs of using eQuest. I am
still in the beginning stages and have run into problems with custom
zoning. I have a 5-story building and am using a different shell for
each on in DD. I completed that with any problems. Then I went to add
custom zones for each floor. When I do this and click finish to generate
the 3-D Geometry the exterior walls vanished and are replaced by the
newly created zone walls.
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and a way to fix it?
Thanks.
