[Equest-users] sloping roof error

Well - then if you built your model correctly, it should look something like this:

Check your geometries. And really - try it out in Sketchup first

Thanks Vikram.

But the actual roof is a simple Gable roof with all the ridge lines aligned. Equest is building it as pitched roof after I check the sloping roof option box. I wanted to make that end as simple Gable end with aligned ridgeline and same height as other ridges. Please find the attached image of the expected roof plan.

Thanks,
Amruta

1. I would ask your architect if that's really how they want to do their roof. If it was me I would align the ridgelines. That looks terrible, but will also be a nightmare to flash.

2. Is it possible for you to simplify the roof shapes? Thermally there might not be much of a difference.

3. If you really want to model it like that - build it in a 3D interface like Sketchup to study how it will actually go together. This might give you a better idea of how to simplify it.

4. Lastly - if you have access to Revit, you could build this in Revit and export the GBXML file to green building studio to generate your inp file.

Subject: [Equest-users] sloping roof error

Hi All,

I am modeling a building with sloping roof (all gable ends). Equest has generated a pitched roof where the ridges don't match (at one intersection) in plan as well as in their heights. I am getting following error while equest is calculating pitched roof intersections and planes:

"Error 10: Not all roof surfaces could be completely generated". I tried revising the roof shape but it is not helping.

I have successfully changed the pitched roof to Gable roof for all the wings except one (where the ridge has changed its elevation). How do I make the ridge align with other ridges in plan and in height to make it a gable end?

I am attaching a image with this email.

Please help.
