If you modeled the floor and the roof of zone
8 of the example file solarshadingtest.idf with two rectangles the message you
get during simulation is "too many variables requested, will go with first 254"
and the results you get in the spreadsheet are different.
Which is the best way to model the elevators room
and exit stairs since they cross the entire building?
Does Energyplus accept negative coordinates for
geometry?
There is an error in the idf editor.When you are
giving the coordinates you can´t write e.g 9,2 or 9.2. In the first case when
you save and returned later to work you will have 9 instead of 9,2.In the
second case when you write 9.2 it appear 92 in the idf editor.But if you write
9..2 and then erase one . you don´t have that problem anymore.
It is only i that have this
problem?

Subsurfaces must be rectangular, so your round window should be
modeled as a square of equivalent area.
Room volume is active and it is used to determine the thermal
capacitance of the room air.
