Hello,
I use 2 books to get most of the basic components and systems.  The one 
with lots of system layout diagrams is "HVAC Control System Design 
Diagrams", by John I. Levenhagen.  Its companion with verbal explanation of 
all the components is called "HVAC Controls and Systems" by Levenhagen and 
Spethmann.  Both are normally available in the ASHRAE Bookstore.
