This is okay to do.  But you should not then use Solar Distribution = 
FullInteriorAndExterior.  You can still use FullExterior, though.

It will still give the correct results.

The zones don't need to be but you could have multiple roofs/ceilings and 
floors for each zone that were appropriate shapes.  They need to be three 
sided or four sided and convex but do not have to be rectangular.
