Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] ground-coupled heat transfer
Regarding ground-coupled heat transfer:
In the Auxiliary Programs document, there is a section on Ground Heat
Transfer which describes how to use the ground temperature
preprocessor which is provided with EnergyPlus. It is recommended
that you do not add any soil or ficititious layers to your slab or
basement wall constructions. Use the ground temperature preprocessor
to determine the monthly ground temperatures which are the
temperatures at the outside face of ground-coupled surfaces.
Do not use the "ground temperatures" which are listed in the weather
files, because these are thermally undisturbed ground temperatures
that one would find in an open field. The temperatures beneath a
conditioned building are quite different.
