The TDD:DIFFUSER and TDD:DOME subsurfaces are used for constructing Tubular Daylighting Devices (TDD), i.e. tubular skylights.  The TDD:DIFFUSER is a diffuser for light, not air flow.  
 
I believe the documentation for this object didn't quite make it into the PDFs in the first few weeks of the release (but it's since been fixed).  The updated Input-Output Reference and Engineering Reference with a complete description of TDDs can be found at:  http://www.eere.energy.gov/buildings/energyplus/documentation.html

there are 2 choices (out of 5 in the IDF editor) for surface type called TDD:DIFFUSER and TDD:DOME. are these choices selectable or can we choose only window, door & glassdoor as the input-output reference says? 

was wondering if one could use the "DIFFUSER" choice for an inlet vent that would have preassigned zero heat transfer and solar properties and the user could assign to it some airflow properties?
