It sort of depends, I believe.  If it's a flat surface (ceiling, roof or 
floor), then it may not matter.  If it's a wall, it does matter -- the 
difference between whether it's a south facing wall or a north facing wall.

If I were you and Ecotect is not giving you the proper translation, I would 
certainly bring it to their attention.
