Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] weather converter

Hello everybody,

I'm trying to input weather data in the E+ weather converter. I've read the Auxiliary Programs documentation, the FAQ and the InputOutput documentation, section refering to this topic but some things are still not clear to me.

I have a spredsheet (Excell) with 30min interval weather data for a specific year for Cardiff city UK and I want to transform it into a csv file to put into the weather converter and later use it in E+ and ESP-r simulations. But I couldn't understand some things about it. I noticed that there is a special format for the csv input file described in page 34, 35 and 36 in the Auxiliary Energy Plus Programs pdf. And I'd like to check some things related to it:

1) I have no data for:
- Typical/Extreme Periods;
- Ground Temperatures;
- Holidays/Daylight saving;
- Comments 1;
- Comments 2;
Can I just ignore those fields and go directly to the Data Periods one? Or I have to specify a zero value for each field? Because the converter will assign them later?

2) Once I'm in the "Data Periods" field, do I specify 2 intervals per hour which corresponds to the 30min data of input I have or do I specify 4 intervals per hour which is the data I want to interpolate from my input so that I can evaluate results for every 15min.? To explain it better. I have inputs for every 30min. but I would like to transform this weather file into a more detailled one and interpolate data for every 15min. Do I specify this interval in the field "Number of data periods" or "number of intervals"? or I don't specify this in the csv file? If this is the case where do I specify this?

3) Do I need to specify each data record name or I just start entering the values? In case I have to specify the names which format do I use the short or the long name? When I don't have a record to the field do I assign zero for it or do I leave it "blank"?

I tried to find an E+ csv to read and use it as an example but I only have epw, ddy and stat files. When I read the epw in excell, converted to csv, there's no titles in the data records so I'm not sure if I do the same with the csv file or not. Can anybody give me a light on those issues please?

I thank you in advance for your attention and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Best regards,

Clarice
