If you have the source, look in the WindowManager.f90 module and 
specifically routines:

ExtOrIntShadeNaturalFlow
BetweenGlassShadeNaturalFlow
BetweenGlassForcedFlow

The developer who did the work is gone from the team now, but we'll 
try to answer questions.   Also, the engineering documentation may help.
