Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] defnitions file



1.  The definitions file is a text file, use notepad or other text file editor 
to create.

2.  In the same folder as the weather data file, with the same base filename, 
but extension .def.

3.  The definitions file can be used with both standard (such as TMY2) and 
custom weather data formats.  Some fields only apply when using a def file with 
custom format.

4.  Let's say, for example, your raw weather data file is named "Fayetteville-
Arkansas-WeatherData.dat".  (Note, I would use an extension that is *not* .csv 
for this file to avoide accidentally overrwriting it.)  Create a plain text 
file named "Fayetteville-Arkansas-WeatherData.def" in the same folder, 
following the examples in the Auxiliary Programs document.  Open the 
WeatherConvertor program, select the weather data file.  Override the default 
data type and select "Custom Data Format".  Select epw as the output format and 
run the conversion.
