[EnergyPlus_Support] Partitions and volume

Hi everybody,

I have been thinking about modelling internal partitions using heat transfer: Internal mass surfaces and would like to ask you something about it.

Whenever an object is modelled as a heat tranfer:Internal mass, its thermal mass is taken into account in the simulation but is its volume subtracted from the zone volume in which this object is in? I know that in the case of partitioning this volume can be negligible but I am not so sure about that when you model furniture (bookshelfs, lots of books, etc) would energy plus subtract the volume occupied by all these furniture, books etc from the zone total volume? The volume occupied by these objects can be significant in some cases and I am curious to know if this is taken into account or not by Energy Plus.

Can anybody give me a light on that?

Thanks in advance for the attention.

Best regards,

Clarice
