RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Some general EnergyPlus questions from a prospective user



Atiya,

 

I have done the gbXML export from Revit into green building studio, and
used there online software to convert to energyplus file. If you have a
clean gbXML file it should work for you for exporting the geometry. The
other information such as building construction and systems will have to
modified in energyplus as far as I know

 

I have heard that there is some development going on for a direct export
from Revit though.

1) Not directly. The only "link" from any sort of CAD system at this
point is 
to export a drawing and trace over it in one of the graphical
interfaces.

2) That depends on the types of projects you will be using EnergyPlus
for. If 
you have not reviewed the available interfaces yet, you may find a list
