RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Design Builder vs Energy Plus - Maximum U-Value



In order to introduce the thermal bridges impact I usually use a "small" sub-surface in aproximatively at the same position than in the building.

 

For the thermal bridging construction I use a very simple; only one layer defined by it's R value pre calculated in manner that the thermal transmittance resultant is the same considering this construction and it's surface than the linear thermal transmittance and it's length.

 

I didn't found any problems to calculate in this way due to U (or R) value.

 

In my opinion it's not possible to do this approach on DesignBuilder but yes on Energy+

Hi 

What can be the maximum U-Value that the Design Builder or the Energy Plus can calculate? See the attacched picture.

The objective is to put in 1 square meter per Zone the losses due to the Thermal Bridges (Linear and Superficial), so in this case the U-value can be 200 or 300 W/m2.ºK
