RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Weather File Conversion

If you don't find a location there, we have also created weather files for other locations using Meteonorm.  These weather files are available on the EnergyPlus_Support YahooGroup (organized by country):  http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/EnergyPlus_Support/files/Meteonorm_Weather_Files/

Meteonorm creates hourly weather data from statistics -- not measured data.  IN ALL CASES, YOU SHOULD REVIEW THE .STAT FILE FOR THE LOCATION BEFORE USING ANY OF THESE FILES TO ENSURE THAT IT REPRESENTS THE CLIMATE OF THE LOCATION AS YOU UNDERSTAND IT. IN MANY CASES, A NEARBY LOCATION WITH MEASURED DATA MAY BE MORE APPROPRIATE THAN ONE DERIVED FROM STATISTICS.

YOU USE THESE FILES ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK.

In addition to what Dru has said, there is a vast number of weather locations available at the EnergyPlus website: www.energyplus.gov  for download.

The WeatherConverter that comes with EnergyPlus can convert virtually any hourly text-based weather data.
If you have .bin data for DOE-2, you can convert back to the text format and the WeatherConverter can convert. If your format isn't one of the default formats, you will need to create a .DEF file which provides details on the file format.

All of this is described in the Auxiliary Programs document that comes with EnergyPlus.
