I know there are different ways to control the calculation of the heat entering and leaving a zone with windows and shades. . If you only want to investigate the effect of a window component of the zone, you may change the transmittance and the conductance in the material used for the window and observe the result. Transmittance will control the radiation component and the conductance will control the conduction component of the heat transfer. Window heat lost occurs in Summer night as well. Winter sun will increase the zone temperature. You can also add an external shade or internal blind to block the radiation. I call these the non-expert, analog ways of simulation control. I use a one zone building to improve my understanding of the various available report variables. There are also Average,Zone, Window heat gain and heat lost values reported in the simulation result.
