Some thing I use to get actual U values is to define the construction into ee4 software. It is an interface for DOE2 and it allows you to define a frame then the thermal bridge is calculated and overall thermal properties are reported. The software is very easy, and you will need just 5 minutes to find out how to do that.

Hi Thierno;

I don't believe it does -- this is something that you must take into account before entering the material properties. That is, you must first calculate a resultant thermal conductivity that takes into account thermal bridging, and then enter that value into EnergyPlus.

That said, there is a dataset available with the EnergyPlus installation ( CompositeWallConstr uctions.idf, located in the DataSets folder of the installation directory) that contains pre-made Material and Construction objects for a number of Constructions with thermal bridging.
