RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Simulation Crashed Using Double Brick Wall with Polyurethane insulation

Hi, Murad

The crash was caused by a divide by zero error.

MaterialProperty:HeatAndMoistureTransfer:Settings,
    Polyurethane,            !- Material Name
    0.0001,                       !- Porosity {m3/m3}
    0.2;                     !- Initial Water Content Ratio {kg/kg}

I changed the Porosity  from zero to  0.0001, and the program did not crash.

There are still some warnings.  Timestep should be set to 4.  One of the schedule is not complete in the days.

Schedule:Compact,
    LIGHTS,                  !- Name
    Fraction,                !- Schedule Type Limits Name
    Through: 12/31,          !- Field 1
    For: WeekDays SummerDesignDay CustomDay1 CustomDay2,  !- Field 2
    Until: 8:00, 0.05,       !- Field 4
    Until: 9:00, 0.9,        !- Field 6
    Until: 10:00, 0.95,      !- Field 8
    Until: 11:00, 1.00,      !- Field 10
    Until: 12:00, 0.95,      !- Field 12
    Until: 13:00, 0.8,       !- Field 14
    Until: 14:00, 0.9,       !- Field 16
    Until: 18:00, 1.00,      !- Field 18
    Until: 19:00, 0.60,      !- Field 20
    Until: 21:00, 0.40,      !- Field 22
    Until: 24:00, 0.05;      !- Field 24

You can either complete the other four day types or change it to  - For: AllDays.

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] Simulation Crashed Using Double Brick Wall with Polyurethane insulation

Hello,

I am having a problem with my simulation using HAMT for double brick wall with polyurethane insulation sandwiched between. Simulations using other construction details such as aerated concrete and single red brick wall were found to be normal. Is there something wrong with the properties of the materials, or is there a problem with HAMT in dealing with multi-layered wall?

I have attached the input file in the hope that anyone could assist me.

Thank you for reading.

Murad
