RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] IDF Crashes

I noticed that you have turned off the fire wall during installatioon.

To VISTA, this looks like a hacker feeding in a virus program.

The program may not have be properly registered, and therefore will not be allowed to execute.

Try installing it again with the fire wall on and the anti-virus program on, to a different directory.

The other check is to make sure that the directory is not read only, as the batch file need to be modified.  Modify previlege is not the same as write privilege, in VISTA.  The program need to be run as an administrator.

EnergyPlus.exe   Unknown                   Unknown    Unknown
EnergyPlus.exe   Unknown                   Unknown    Unknown

Todd,  Not sure how you're running EnergyPlus (straight from OS)?

Try saving an IDF file and then using EP-Launch to run with the Pausing during simulation turned on?

Hello,

I have EnergyPlus installed and running on a laptop(OS: Vista) and appear to have no problems during installation to my desktop(OS: Window XP).  During installation I have administrator privileges and the firewall turned off.  However, EnergyPlus crashes for all IDF files I run.  Files I create on my own or even example files.  I have had past versions of EnergyPlus installed on this desktop without problems.  I realize this is likely a problem with my desktop but I was curious if there is a PATH variable or BAT file I can check the settings on to perhaps identify the issue.

By pausing during a simulation the error appears to begin when calling EnergyPlus.exe:
