Good catch! You can fix this yourself if
you want by editing the IDD file. Open up the Energy+.idd file and edit the
entry for the field called Design Range Temperature in the
CoolingTower:VariableSpeed input object. There is a line “\units C” that
should be changed to be “\units deltaC” From: I was working in the IDF editor, and I switched the
units to "inch-pound". I then went to the CoolingTower:VariableSpeed
and added an object. The IDF Editor says that the default approach is 39*F and
the default range is 42*F. This must be incorrect, as the default approach and
range is usually around 6*F and 10*F respectively. After noticing this I went
into the input/output PDF to see what it had to say. The input/output PDF is in
SI units so it listed the default approach and range as 3.9*C and 5.6*C
respectively. It seems that the IDF editor is doing a straight conversion from
Celsius to Fahrenheit when it should be __._,_.___ The primary EnergyPlus web site is found at: http://www.energyplus.gov The group web site is: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/EnergyPlus_Support/ Attachments are currently allowed but be mindful that not everyone has a high speed connection.
