Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Interface EnergyPlus and BIM

At Bentley, we are very aware of the issue of quality of transfer and obtaining accurate space boundaries from the BIM for energy simulation. We are explicitly working to obtain certification of the IFC2x3 Coordination View v2.0 for our products.  Also, we are creating a plugin for Revit to be to review and control the quality of the data transferred to our energy simulation products.  We anticipate having a beta of our new simulation program out in the next month or two.

It appears we need to ask about more than just interfaces and conversions ?

Perhaps we need to ask about the "quality" of the conversion, where quality
could be established by adherence to validation processes such as those
spelt out by the "GSA Building Information Modeling Guide Series 02 -
Spatial Program Validation" ?

Could we ask the Software Vendors to comment on this aspect of conversion,
and how they are working with these sort of issues?

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] Interface EnergyPlus and BIM

Dear E+ users,

Does anyone know any project/research related to develop a interface for
EnergyPlus to be used in Building Informtaiton Modelling (BIM) or to develop

IFC converters to EnergyPlus?

Thanks for any help.

Regards,

Alberto Hernandez Neto
