The field called Activity Level Schedule Name in the People object is used to adjust the metabolic rate for PMV calculations.

Hi,

I am trying to understand how EnergyPlus calculates PMV. I have been going through the documentation (energineering reference)but I think there are a few gaps - I could be wrong considering I have a very limited understanding of this subject. I was trying to do a PMV manual calculation in excel, using the algorithm given in the documentation, and was expecting values close to those in the simulation output. But the deviation is too huge to be ignored. I really need to do this because I have to modify the hourly PMV values based on reduction of metabolic rate (as a result of slowing down of activity levels by the occupants) in a warm-humid climate. So, basically, what I need is the correlation between metabolic rate and PMV.

I would be very grateful for any help.
