RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Error

Hi, Julian

You do have a problem with the setpoint schedule.  The correct setting should be:

Schedule:Compact,
    N24,                     !- Name
    Temperature,             !- Schedule Type Limits Name
    Through: 12/31,          !- Field 1
    For: AllDays,            !- Field 2
    Until: 8:00, 30,          !- Field 4
    Until: 20:00, 24,        !- Field 6
    Until: 24:00, 30;         !- Field 8
Schedule:Compact,
    N20,                     !- Name
    Temperature,             !- Schedule Type Limits Name
    Through: 12/31,          !- Field 1
    For: AllDays,            !- Field 2
    Until: 8:00, 10,          !- Field 4
    Until: 20:00, 22,        !- Field 6
    Until: 24:00, 10;         !- Field 8

The purpose of the type 5 thermostat control is to creat a dead band during off and on time.

You had the off time value set to zero for both set points.  The system would not know what to do.

With the above setting, if the OD temperature is higher than 30°C during the off time, the cooling would be turned on.  If the OD temperature is lower than 10°C, the heating would be turned on.  These numbers are not fixed, and can be adjusted to meet the safety requirement of the building.

Change these and run the IDF with Borcelona weather file and see what you would get.

Thanks Dr Li,

According understand hvac idealloadsystem debreia use, and being as low but should be refrigerated HEATING AND ventilate.
As designed the system so that from 8am to 20 pm there is a constant temperature of 24 degrees winter and summer only ventilation with a humidity of 50% all year round?
I could pass expidf file with the changes that should be done.
What is the difference between pthp hvac and hvac idealloadsystem.

I hope I can help.
Thanks.

Hi, Julian

I do not know why you are choosing PTHP as your system. The system is correctly entered in your IDF.   The expidf can be used for simulation without error, but with many warnings to let know that the Heat Pump is not suitable at that location.

The IdealLoadSystem will probably get you all the values you need to design or modify the building.  You should not use 'absolue' and 'relative' for your coordinates.  The use of DesignBuilder may have confused you.

Your other requirements:

Is considered to install a solar heating system air to provide cooling in summer only, including treatment of humidity, as it is considered that the thermal requirements of heating are negligible.

Heat pump does not work below 5°C, therefore the auxiliary heater was heating your building.

No cooling required at La Molina.  You may have chosen a wrong location for your exercise.

In your IDF:

Site:Location,
    LA MOLINA
,               !- Name
    42.34,                   !- Latitude {deg}
    1.96,                    !- Longitude {deg}
    1,                       !- Time Zone {hr}
    1932;                    !- Elevation {m}

At 43.34 latitude and 1932m above sea level, I do not think you can get 24°C all the year around, without heating.

The lighting load is 17W/m2 (30% convective) and a control system on / off. it depends on the external radiation (1600kJ/h.m2 setpoint). ????

Daylighting can be invoked in EnergyPlus by the use of two objects: Daylighting:Controls
and Daylighting:DELight:Controls.

All windows have internal shutters are controlled on / off is switched on or off according to external radiation (setpoint 1600kJ/h.m2 - 450W/m2).

To do this simulation, you will need  to add WindowMaterial:Shade (page 124 IO Manual) for your windows,  and define a WindowProperty:ShadingControl object, which can use the solar beam to turn the blind slat angle.

Hello Dr Li,

I have problems to solve this exercise, I leave attached below the data to see them and can guide me to resolve them better.
Also I have to get another year to obtain temperatures of 24C ° and constant humidity of 50%.
We spent a expidf file to enter the examples there if possible as this is the way to better understand what I should do.
As simepre agradesco and respect him very much for your dedication.
Greetings.
Julian.

Hi, Julian

I do not think there is any error in the IDF.

There was no cooling load, because the highest outdoor temperature is below 20°C, probably because the location is over 1000m above sea level.

hello Dr Li,

It previously was simulated with weather data for Barcelona but for now enter the Molina, in doing this I get errors:

** Warning ** World Coordinate System selected. Any non-zero, Building / Zone Axes North Zone or non-zero Origins Are ignored.

~ ~ ~ ** ** These May be Used in Calculations Coordinate daylighting reference point But Not in normal geometry inputs.

** Warning ** Calculated design cooling load for zone = zone 1 is zero.

** ~ ~ ** Check Sizing: Zone and ZoneControl: Thermostat inputs.

** Warning ** Calculated design cooling load for zone = 3Zone is zero.

** ~ ~ ** Check Sizing: Zone and ZoneControl: Thermostat inputs.

How can I fix it?

Greetings and thanks
