RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] how to model "mist collector"?

Here are a few additional thoughts:
· If the ?mist? actually contains water (as opposed to oil), Ned is exactly correct that the effectiveness of the mist capture can be significant. If the capture rate is 80%, 20% of the moisture will become part of the zone and you are interested in accounting for that impact. Therefore you need to know (as Ned says) the rate of mist generation so you can split the moisture into two streams (captured and exhausted)
· (Assuming a water-based process) I think I?d create two ?OtherEquipment? objects. Each of these will have the same schedule which matches the mist-generating process. One schedule will use the ?captured? moisture rate and the other will use the ?exhausted? rate. Both will be specified as the appropriate fraction of sensible and latent energy.
· Then you can consider a mist collector as an exhaust fan because that?s what it is (with a few extra air path baffles thrown in to cause the mist to impinge and therefore be captured). The exhaust fan air flow and pressure rise must result in the correct total power.
