Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] using IRTMaterial

Can we control the convection then? The opening should not contributed anything to the convection heat transfer.
Furthermore, the "surface temperature" should be similar to the air temperature or the sky temperature, such that the contribution of this opening to the MRT is minimal.

Well, put it simply: I do not know the properties of the IRTMaterial, as the I/O reference does not describe it.

Thanks,

Ery

Why don't you make it a Window with properties similar to the IRTMaterial?

Folks,

I need help on how to use IRTMaterial, the infrared material. I
basically have a naturally ventilated space with an opening - not a
window, just an opening where the airflows. The best to model this type
of surface is to define the infrared material, where (a) there is no
surface convection (at least can be minimised) and (b) the surface will
let the solar radiation into the zone.
