1. You have to define 2 compact schedules. Your cooling availability schedule should look like that one:

Schedule:Compact,
    Cooling Availability Sch,  !- Name
    AnyNumber,             !- Schedule Type Limits Name
    Through: 31 Dec,         !- Field 1
    For: Weekdays SummerDesignDay WinterDesignDay,  !- Field 2
    Until: 08:00,            !- Field 3

    0,                       !- Field 8
    For: Weekends,           !- Field 9

    For: AllOtherDays,       !- Field 15
    Until: 24:00,            !- Field 16

With respect to the heating availability schedule (define a name - 
Heating Availability Sch), it will be almost identical, however all the 
values will be
equal to zero (Replace 1 with 0). A schedule value equal to 1 indicates that cooling supply air is available during the hour.

2. There are 2 fields in HVAC:IdealLoadAirSystem named Heating 
Availability Schedule and Cooling Availability Schedule. Fill in these 
fields as shown below:

HVAC:IdealLoadAirSystem,
  Cooling Availability Sch   !Cooling Availability Schedule,
  Heating Availability Sch  !Heating Availability Schedule

Hello,

Im trying to find the total energy required for cooling of a office building from May to September.

To do this I have used IdealLoadsAirSystem, but this system works 24 hours a day. However, since my building is used as an office, I only want it to work from 8am to 5pm.

Any idea how to achieve this? I haven't specified any detailed HVAC components, just a simple ideal load one.
