RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Aspect Ratio in Slab Preprocessor

Silvana,

The limits on the Area/Perimeter ratio are related to the auto-gridding algorithm. The alternative is to manually specify the grid. If you use this approach, keep in mind that there is a numerical limit on the size of the cells to ensure a stable solution.

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] Aspect Ratio in Slab Preprocessor

I'm studying the physical model behind the slab preprocessor. It was hard to find information about it, particularly why the aspect ratio Area/Perimeter shoul be higher than 1.5. I've read the Bahnfleth model and I didn't find limitations to A/P. The Eplus Manual does not comment anything on this subject. Does it come from grid limitations, or from the thermal model? Would this imply that for a 5m x 5m prototype I cannot use the slab preprocessor? Thank you very, very much.
