Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Window Shortwave Heat Loss from Zone Back Out Window [W]

Hi Jia,

Following is the calculation used in EnergyPlus

WinLossSWZoneToOutWinRep(SurfNum) = QS(Surface(SurfNum)%Zone) * Surface(SurfNum)%Area * TransDiff

Where,
Qs             =   Zone short-wave flux density; used to calculate short-wave radiation absorbed on inside surfaces of zone
TransDiff  =   Diffuse solar transmittance, bare glass or shade on
Area          =   Surface area of the surface (less any subsurfaces) {m2}

Hope this helps.

Hi everyone:

The window system output has an output variable named by "Window Shortwave Heat Loss from Zone Back Out Window [W] "  (I/O manual page 249 [PDF page 290]). Does anyone know the basic idea of how to calculate this variable in E+? I check the engineering reference but cannot find the explanation as to the calculation methods.

Thanks,

Jia
