I know about threading, but not too much about hyperthreading, so I'll reply with this but not guarantee anything because it is from the hyperthreading article on Wikipedia:�

This technology is transparent to operating systems and programs. The minimum that is required to take advantage of hyper-threading is�symmetric multiprocessing�(SMP) support in the�operating system, as the logical processors appear as standard separate processors.

It seems EnergyPlus (or any other program) itself doesn't have anything to do with hyperthreading, the OS just sees it as multiple processors. �I think this is most useful in regard to EnergyPlus for multiple concurrent simulation runs, not for single runs.
