Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Re: Problems on Large Building Simulation

64-bit seems to help as well.  Releases Windows from the 2 GB limit on using whatever memory it has.

More RAM will definitely help. 2 Gig is probably not nearly enough for simulations.

But the error says "insufficient virtual memory", which is not an ePlus issue.

Google "Windows increase virtual memory".

You can create it that way -- which will give better coverage for the internal distribution or you could create one and use the "multiplier" field to get the 10 factor.

Thank you for your explanation.

Sorry, maybe this is a very basic knowledge in building energy simulator, but I don't understand what is the meaning of 'lumped window'.

Does it mean if we have several windows that located in same side of the building wall , say 10, that occupied area of 1 m2 each, we don't have to create 10 fenestration surfaces (1 m2 each), but we just create a 10 m2 fenestration surface ?

Thank you

It is very unlikely that your computer is not up for the task. check rather that you have the correct version fitting to your operating system and 32 or 64 Mb machine. Try run a simple box, first to see if it completes like you expect. then add some windows the same way as on your big model and try again.

The simulation is always failed and has the error message "severe (41): insufficient virtual memory". For information, I use a computer with Intel Centrino T2300 1,67 GHz and 2 GB RAM. This is happen when I simulate the model which the size is quite small than the original model. I'm sure when I simulate the original large model, this message will appear. How to solve this problem? My friends tell me that I must upgrade my RAM, is it the only solution or is there any better solution?
