Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Zone/Floor Multiplier

I cannot at the moment. I do not have access to the docs. Tips is not that big. Just look at the bookmarks. Or maybe it didn't get in v6.

Linda,

I don't find anything on the Tips and Tricks document. I am not sure why this would be, I cant search for a text "Multiplier", the results return no matching strings.

Could you please give me the page number in the PDF? Sorry for the trouble.

Look at the tips and tricks doc. It has a section on multipliers. If it doesn't answer the question, tell me.

Mr. Dirkes,

Thanks for your reply.

I think its the other way round. There is some description on Zone Multipliers under the Zone object in the Multiplier field. It seems like the inputs should be good enough to take care of the mutiplied loads.

Dear Vinay,

Try reporting the airflow and fan power to see if itâ??s the value you specify or 7x that value. I have not used the zone multiplier, but Iâ??m guessing that it multiplies CFM in the same magnitude as the multiplier, so you now may have a fan at 7 x 7 = 49x.

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] Zone/Floor Multiplier

Hello,

I am seeing very high fan power on one of my simulations and hence wanted to check for this issue.

Let's say there are 7 typical floors and one zone is created and a Zone Group object is used to replicate the 7 floors using a multiplier. Now in all of those zones, the zone loads will be calculated and multiplied by a factor of 7. So in order to satisfy this zone should we input the designed zone CFM * 7 in the input field for HVAC objects or input just the designed zone CFM and the software will mutliply it? It would be great if someone can clarify this.

I have it at 7 * designed zone cfm, and hence doubting my approach due to high fan power. At the same time I feel this is the way to do it from vague prior memory.

Thank you in advance.

Vinay
