No problem.
Plenum used as an air mixer is for convenience. The plenum is used in place of a mixer.
Return all the zone air through a mixer, just like you are feeding all the air through a plenum. You should look up the naming change in the I/O manual. (Return air mixer vs. return air plenum.)
