Dear Linda Lawrie,
Sorry but yesterday I could not put to you a new question about what you said because I had a meeting the rest of the day. My apologies for directing to you just now.
As you said, I noted that the EP-launch versions and IDF-Editor are not available for Mac, however I was browsing the directory that you mentioned, where everybody download EnergyPlus program´s (www.energyplus.gov) and find that we can download versions of E + for Windows or Mac (or 32 or 64 bit).
To understand better what you said, I think that we
can not work in an environment of latop Mac, except through a "virtual machine" installed on a Mac or installing a second operating system (like in addition to OS X with Windows 7) installed on an Mac laptop, I´m right?
Note that I am only referring to the E + version 6.0 (current version), because for me the files (.idf files) that I have used in previous versions (since 3.0), I use the executable Transitions to converter in the latest version and some information from a working draft oldest.
All this questions it´s about my decision to buy a new laptop, very faster with priority when I use
(with priority) programs like EnergyPlus, Google Sktechup and AutoCad (to view arquitecture, HVAC and electrical buildings plants). I am knowledgeable of the tricks and tips to speed up certain simulations (geometry, HVAC, and other issues), but in some cases as large buildings and a complex network, the use of a fast computer is needed for a certain time (sometimes fewest) of the project.
I thank the dissipation of doubts about the interfaces commonly used in interpretations of results of the E +. I will contact the producers of xEsoView and Inkscakpe to my repeated questions.
Best regards!

I do not believe xESOView runs on the Mac (Can't remember if
he has a website -- open source -- whatever) You'd need to ask the
Inkscape people about the SVG viewer.
And, of course, remember that EP-Launch and IDF-Editor versions are not
yet available for the Mac. I don't know of the interface developers
who has Mac versions. You'd need to contact their direct
websites. In all cases, there are usually links to interface
websites from the main EnergyPlus website:

I come by this means find out
the following question, I am considering replacing my computer for an Mac
(Apple), but as the energy simulations for buildings is part of my
professional day activities essentially I´d like to know the following
answers to my decision. I searched the internet on some interfaces that
normally I use for E +, but did not find any answers, hoping to get the
information here.
I wonder if the interface xEsoview (an open source file viewer of E+) and
Inkscape (SVG diagram) can run on a Mac (OS X Lion)?
