Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Window wall ratio

EnergyPlus requires that windows are part of a wall system (window must be slightly smaller than the wall).  Suggest that you model the wall as spandrel (20%) and the rest as your curtain wall.

Hello all,

Assuming there is a building with curtain walls throughout. And the performance parametrrs of the whole curtainwall system is known. Would it be alright to have all of the exterior as glazed and use the parametrs of the wholr system in the glass in the case where daylighting is not a concern. Or lets say there is 20% spandrel and rest glazed, should we model onlu the 80% as window and leave the remaining 20% as external wall amd use the spandrels thermal properties? In case spandrel is okay to be combined within the overall system and respresented as a window for modeling. Should the respective baseline have 100% window wall ratio or only 80%.

Thanks in advance!

Vinay
