RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Re: Heat and Moisture Simulation (EMPD and HAM)

Now that the model runs, activate one HAM wall and see if you have errors.  If you do, adjust the thickness of components of your wall thickness and see if the error stops.  If it does, you have fixed all walls that use the exact same construction.  If you have other HAM walls that are not exactly the same construction, you will have to test them as well.

Depending on how much HAM construction you have, the envelope materials tend to smooth out space RH variations.  I last used it to simulate a warehouse with lots of paper on storage racks.  I can’t tell you how the exterior wall simulation works, but one limitation is that the weather files do not have rain, so the walls are not as responsive as a WUFI model would be.  If you want to see how exterior wall construction affects interior conditions, try WUFIPlus.  It is not as sophisticated as E+, but the wall heat and moisture transfer is direct from WUFI1D models.

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] Re: Heat and Moisture Simulation (EMPD and HAM)

My ideia is really to test the sensitivity of HAM model on Energy Plus, since I plan to consider moisture on simulation of old buildings.

I ran the model without HAM with the weather file, and it had no errors. I´m going to test other weather files to check, anyway.

Well, in case I don´t get rid of these warnings, the report states at the end that I can ignore the "Zone Air Heat Balance out of Balance" warnings, which are currently used only by developers.

Thanks for answering!
