Check the temperature of the top floor of Bldg B. How high is it in Winter?
If the solar load is high, the top two floors are warmer. Hence the observed loading condition for the Mid zone. Mid zone cools the top zone when cooling in SUmmer. Mid zone is heated by the top zone when heating in Winter. That is why I use IdealLoadsAirSystem for building design study. The charater cannot be changed with any other HVAC equipment. Buisling shading and insulation will save energy. Another case study !!
compare 2 stacked building, both are the same size, 3 story building. Bldg A [TOP] - apartment [MID] - apartment x 1 [Bottom] - apartment Bldg B [TOP] - MEP (no cooling/heating assigned) [MID] - apartment x 1 [Bottom] - apartment Cooling:Energy transfer Bldg. A [MID] > Bldg. B [MID] Heating:Energy transfer Bldg. A [MID] < Bldg. B [MID] Energy transfer result both cooling and heating in both [MID] apt. are different.
