RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] The purpose of doing HVAC simulation

Thanks for your reply.

You are in the 4th group, 4) University research students with limited
funding looking for research tools to do their projects.
 


Here is another “nasty” question (sorry for my curiosity). 

I have heard from HVAC engineers/designers (In South Korea) that, they
argued building operators often violates preprogramed HVAC control
operation schemes because he/she does not aware very well  how the system
should be operated, or something else (I don’t know why, please let me
know:-)).

For example, in winter, he/she shut down the OA damper to reduce heating
load (but should be kept open for minimum OA requirements). 

In short, many advanced control algorithms (night purge, economizer
control, optimal starting, enthalpy control, power demand control) are not
fully utilized as intended as far as I know. 

What do you think about it? 

Why this gap happen?

In my guess, 

1.	Building operators are not HVAC Engineer/designer, thus he/she
cannot fully understand HVAC system operation
2.	No educational support to building operators
3.	Need for advanced interface to communicate between building
operators and building HVAC and sub systems
4.	Other, please specify

I think that HVAC simulation capability of EPlus is outstanding, and it can
be utilized for educational support program. 
(Of course, “very uncomfortable interface” should be enhanced for its
goal. )

I am waiting for your brilliant answer.
